TITLE: HOUSES CONSTRUCTED DAMAGED BY THE HURRICANE MITCH

COST: THE TOTAL COST WAS 101.000 $, OF WHICH SPANISH LIONS GAVE 25.000 $ AND LCIF 76.000 $.

Summary:
This project is first of a series of performances of the Spanish Lions with the collaboration of our Foundation and that has been precursory of the idea of the Euro Latin-American Committee.

Because of the catastrophe caused by the Hurricane Mitch, the Spanish Lions gathered funds for the reconstruction of houses in Nicaragua with the collaboration of LCIF.

Description:
The Lions of Nicaragua presented the project of the construction 48 houses in Tipitapa, which is located near Managua on the Pan-American Highway, that is the spine of America Center, this highway unites the countries between each other.

One group of houses will be denominated, "Village of Melvin Jones Nº 4" and these 23 houses are financed to 50% by the Spanish Lions and 50% by LCIF.

As an example I want to transcribe the words of gratefulness of the PDG Roger Velázquez Flores. "Damaged families of the Mitch Hurricane are extremely thankful to the Spanish Lions, one says that the tragedy has mitigated and the saddened faces have been transformed into new smiling faces, thanks to the generosity of the Lions and the Great international fellowship "LIONS of the WORLD".

In another letter it from the same Lion:

"All is happiness to me, as I know have a hand from a very generous friend. Receive from me all the gratefulness of the District D-5 Nicaragua, to LCIF and 116 Multiple District Spain.

The city of TIPITAPA - Managua, was informed about the best intentions of the LIONS OF SPAIN, to make the aid from the great brotherhood extensive. God blesses, and that the benefit of it’s good actions is made following the postulates of " WE SERVE ".

Objective:
I believe that these news are worthy to mention, I recommend to give a press note to the local media so we inform those that always support to us, and also what we do with their money. I believe that we must feel proud to the obtained these results and have done something to those that have lose everything in far away lands.

Projects like these, are what we must be able to achieve through Euro Latin-American Committee.
