SPANISH
PEWTER FROM SEGOVIA |
These are the only people that make pewter in Spain, as far as I know, and the interesting thing is that they still use the antic techniques which is extraordinary. The pewter is melted in sand molds, instead of being poured in to metal model and pressed. Plus it has not led, which makes it usable for food, something that should not do with older pieces of pewter, as it normally has lead in. What you see here is a very small selection of what they really have. I must admit this is NOT cheap, but it’s certainly a collector’s item, as I have never seen anybody in the world, make pewter using this medieval way of doing pewter. So obviously you have to pay for it. Also I must say this is extremely rare, there are only 6 places in Spain that sells this pewter, and we are probably the one that has the best selection.
